ACTIVATE | ENGINEERING COMMUNICATION

Give to Activate

Many early-career engineers are held back not by technical ability, but by their ability to communicate effectively. Activate equips engineering students to share their ideas with others clearly and persuasively, which is an essential part of leadership.

Give to Activate Engineering Communication

The Activate Engineering Communication program in the George R. Brown School of Engineering empowers students to transform their ideas into action through clear, persuasive communication. Realizing communication is essential to engineering, Activate coaches students to present their work well in class and competitions. Through interactive workshops and writing studios, students build confidence and competency. Communication instruction is embedded into the Rice Engineering core curriculum and the Activate program partners with Engineering faculty to accomplish this integration. Engineers need to be persuasive communicators who drive change. By supporting the Activate Excellence Fund, you will serve as a catalyst that helps our students transform their ideas and amplify impact.

Become a donor

Every gift, no matter small or large, makes an impact.

Whether you choose to give back through an annual gift through the 24-hour challenge, establishing an endowment or or supporting another funding priority, every dollar counts. In fact, most gifts to Rice Engineering are less than $1,000 but together they add up to millions for student awards, academics, research and programs so we can educate leaders and tackle grand challenges. If you are interested in discussing how you can make a non-cash gift such as appreciated stock, Donor Advised Fund (DAF), IRA Charitable Rollover, or through a deferred gift vehicle such as a bequest, please contact engdev@rice.edu and we would love to help facilitate that donation.

Partnerships

Engineering students selected for the Rice Engineering Alumni Association’s Summer Engineering Experience Program work with Activate coaches to prepare for internship interviews.

Industry representatives and Rice alumni from companies such as Schlumberger, Two Sigma, and Cummins Inc. mock interview engineering master’s students at Activate’s “Elevate Your Interview Skills” event.
